You’ve been “mused”. I am declaring that a new phrase and battle cry as that is exactly what happened to me MUCH to my delight. The photo included with this article; was an outfit I wore to the Sandpipers Fund Raising Fashion Show recently. It was a totally whimsical rendition of the day I wanted to have, and by golly I did. A friend used the photo, and I guess some AI or app magic and voila created a ”Barbie” showcasing the outfit which I dubbed Bed of Roses.
Another point of information my birth given nick name was yep – Barbie. I have the ID bracelet as proof. Not only that she and I were born into the same decade, making both of us Boomers. I know for a fact Barbie was born of a muse, a local LA family’s children became Barbie and Ken. Not kidding look it up.
My outfit was so unique in fact that women were honestly chasing me down the hallways to get a closer look. It was a head to toe compilation of all separate pieces purchased from Thrifting, Sale Racks, a Local Boutique and my go to TJ Maxx.
It was so much fun to be able to encourage gals of all ages to step outside of their comfort zone by role modelling what that looks like to take a bit of a Fashion Leap. What are we waiting for * perhaps we are waiting for a muse. What is a muse exactly? “A person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.” When it comes to dressing, who isn’t a creative artist anymore.
Give it some thought who or what do you gaze upon style-wise that tempts you to try something different, or replicate a look. I loved Emily in Paris for doing a bit of copycatting. The print mixing and breadth of style reach was extraordinary. It encouraged youthful folly, joy and fun.
Laughing these days is the best medicine. There is so much we cannot control that it becomes frustratingly clear we have to find the bits and pieces of joy wherever they may be. So why not enjoy what you are wearing, whether it be the comfort, pizazz, warmth, calm or excitement you can control it – now ain’t that something!!
As always, I recommend you Dress for the day you want – NOT – the day you are given. Dressing is fun Enjoy.
