Have you found yourself wishing for simpler times of late? Asking the world to slow down and let you think, sit back and not be worried about finances, children’s education, putting food on the table and keeping a roof over your heads. I sure have.
Nostalgia per Wikipedia is : “A bittersweet feeling of sadness and pleasure when you think about a time, place, or person from the past. The word comes from Greek words meaning “homecoming” and “pain”. It was first used to describe extreme homesickness, but today it means missing the good old days.”
Curling up when it is cold enough of course in a big fluffy cozy sweater, wearing something from someone special in your past, or wearing clothes in adult wear that were what you wore to school as a child. Thinking saddle shoes, penny loafers, plaids, corduroys, tweeds and so on.
Well, Fall Fashion is feeling the same way. The clothing has a “Days Like These” look and vibe. Chic, feminine and endlessly wearable. Trends aren’t rules, they are merely an opportunity to explore the world through what you wear. Think about how much in our lives do we actually have ultimate control over? The photo for this article is me, I suspect around 1 and 5 years old with both my grandmas, my mother’s father and one of my bachelor Uncles Teddy, who was a twin. With his twin Joe and older brother Nat, they owned a record store in Passaic, NJ. And that is a story for another day – true nostalgia. Can we talk 45’s, 33 1/3 and 78 records? Yes, the kind that when they hit the deck broke into many bits. Not a tease… I will write about that one day soon.
