See, Buy, Wear, Live with only what you love and I promise you it will always serve you.  Long before Marie Kondo was encouraging us to live only with things that bring us joy – from a wooden spoon to a significant piece of jewelry I am quite sure we have all made decisions big and small by how we experienced the moment. For instance, my husband and I began combing the streets of a town in Los Angeles called Westchester for a home when we had a bad baby-sitting experience with our then 4-month-old son. We were living in Westwood, CA near UCLA and I was working at MCI in Westchester, CA. I couldn’t get home nor was my husband near to my son who was at that moment missing, the babysitter had him but she was not responding to pages (no cell phones yet) and it was 6pm. My gut, head and heart throbbed in agreement – I needed to be able to get to him no matter what!!!!!  So, we set out soon after the incident (which ended happily) 1 mile in each direction of the MCI office to find a place that was reachable wearing heels and carrying a laptop (for me not for my husband); and explored the lovely community of Westchester. We looked at every house then on the 1993 market some twice. Until the Sunday our little caravan rounded the corner onto Kentwood Avenue.  There mid block on the left was 8048 Kentwood Avenue with diamond windows and an inviting front lawn.  I was leaning out the window to our realtor Bruce Baker in the lead car that if we could afford it this was THE house. And so it was, the deal was as smooth as glass, the sellers had been long time residents and asked to stay a week or so longer which we readily agreed to.  We were set to close on January 17th 1994. Does that day ring a bell? Yep the Northridge earthquake and Martin Luther King Day so clearly there wasn’t going to be a closing that day. However, what was made evident by being in the house during several aftershocks was that this house was solid; it would absolutely embrace us and keep our small family safe. And so it did for 16 years of parties, celebrations, front lawn water parks, campouts, tree house zip line and 4 dogs over time. In 16 years our requirements had “evolved” and it was time to tear down, build on or find another home. But, oh where would we find such a place inside our neighborhood, which we held so dear. As it turned out right around the corner, a brand new Stephanie Younger (this woman is amazing and has built an incredible Agency with loads of Style) listing came on the market, we viewed it on Sunday and began escrow on the following Thursday, yep it was that RIGHT we listened to our gut and 10 years later we were featured on the cover of the Westchester Living Magazine and are happily living Fashionably Wealthy – Rich in Style in our dream house.  Proving that if you Know your style you will forever be served by it.
