The funniest thing happened when I wrote this Blog, it was deadline plus 2 for my submission to the Westchester Living Magazine editorial team and guess what?? Yours truly sent in the same article as the previous issue, go figure right! Well since there is a story in everything and all of it reflects your personal Brand and Image and of course Style….my response to Mr. Richard Florin, Publisher was haha well you know I really am a blonde after all. Which led me to another series of thoughts, hair color is very personal whether it is a female or male.
“Many stereotypes are associated with our natural hair color: blondes are dumb, redheads have fiery tempers and brunettes are sultry. While we believe these to be assumptions, it is no secret that people often create a first impression about one based on their hair color. Research has now proven that many of these stereotypes can sometimes have very real effects.” Jacob Olesen
These are characteristics that in my case blondes are typically enamored for their flakey, flirty, friendly behavior (actually we just use that as cover because we are really that smart ). And then there are Brunettes oh my, luscious dark hair, think Sophia Vergara, Jackie O, Amal Cooney, George Cooney (before he went silver) and Penelope Cruz I could go on and on. Brunettes are Seriously Passionate and take very few prisoners.
What about Redheads, one cannot think of these beauties without feeling Fire, Spunk, Creativity and boundless Energy.
I am facing an interesting time in my own hair journey because reaching a certain age has silver co-mingling with my blonde – so am I a Silver head and becoming demure dare I say sophisticated or am I still as blonde as ever. Interesting dilemma, no? Oh and lest we forget the Ombreheads, so very cool as the purples, blues and pinks grace these lovely heads its not natural but oh so glamorous, but who are they really.
Last but certainly not least Black hair, dramatic, mysterious and distinctive. Mortia, Cher, Merlin – magical.
Personality traits are affected by hair color. … If you color your hair with a shade other than your natural hair color, you will likely influence your behavior and, after a while, even adopt the stereotypes associated with it. Fact!
If you don’t know by now I am a color FREAK, color is to me what water is to someone in the desert. It fills me up, brightens everything and is congruent at a very core level with everyone’s Individual Personal Style. Color clearly affects all elements of our being: what we see, what we eat, what we purchase (the marketing folks can talk for years on that topic) if we are grateful for anything on a daily basis in my opinion it should be color. Imagine not being able to see and experience color. Unthinkable.
Stand in your Personal Style, be true to your Brand and let your colors Rip.
