Welcome to my world where Style is omnipresent in attitude, dressing, interactions, and problem solving. There is very little in my awake hours that is not influenced and guided by Style. Because Style is uniqueness being outwardly expressed. It makes for easy living when one’s core values are the guide posts. I have three such guiding principles: Kindness, Bravery, Integrity – my triangle of operation.

What rabbit hole am I headed down this time, well let me tell ya. It was just the other evening, Tuesday to be specific  that I received a notification from American Airlines that my flight was delayed by two hours, never a favorite message when travelling to the East Coast on a red eye flight. However, this time it turned into not only my saving grace but a lesson on many levels which I will come back to. I thought it odd that they would be notifying me that my flight which I was planning to board on Wednesday night was delayed. It was an oh well moment, finished dinner, cleaned up the kitchen and went off to bed.

Awakening bolt upright at 4amish on Wednesday to reckon with my first lesson which is in telling time – HELLO – Wednesday 12:15am is actually just passed midnight on Tuesday. Yep that flight had flown, hadn’t ever done that before no matter how much partying had occurred prior to a flight, seriously, including St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago another story for another time.

Here’s where the Panache comes in:  Tried AA on line but in my flurry messed up my password too many times and was locked out. Next, called AA and was given the option of a call back or waiting on hold for what could be up to 90 minutes. Chose staying on hold as it felt as if I was actually doing something and looked up my flight options for Wednesday’s red eyes. Travelling from LAX to Boston’s Logan airport and then making ground transportation connections to Cape Cod is not for the faint of heart.  I found two flights and prepared for what I thought would be an unwinnable expensive battle when the Representative came on line.

Next thing I know there was Rachel on the line who was lovely (kind), capable (integrity), and skilled (brave) bingo all of my principles in one person on the line hitting the keys to “no problem” getting me on my first choice flight, favorite seat assignments and NO extra charge. My heart be still. Now the panache part, Rachel how can I provide accolades for your amazing attention, which oh by the way I was the last call of her shift.  It was, as easy as staying on the line answering a couple of questions and adding a recording of my delight.

I am writing this article from The Platinum Pebble Inn, W Harwich, Cape Cod, Mass. Owned by my dear friend Sharon Foster. There were more adventures getting from the airport to the Cape but I have run out word space. Please feel free to ask me for the rest of the story…….

With Loving Panache,
Bobbie
